Dr. Erica Madden, OD, is a native of Birmingham, AL. Dr. Madden graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She was awarded a Health Professionals Partnership Internship as a freshman and served throughout her undergraduate career. She credits this experience with enhancing her passion for science and healthcare as she was able to assist in scientific research and with the development and implementation of STEM science labs used at the McWane Center and area high schools. She was awarded a Health Partnership Fellowship upon graduation. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2009.
Dr. Madden continues her dedication to optometry with involvement in the Alabama Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and the Birmingham Area Optometric Society. Dr. Madden has a passion for primary eye care, ocular disease treatment, and pediatric vision services, including kids eye exams in Clanton, Alabama.
Dr. Madden has been married to her loving husband for 16 years. They have two sons and a dog named Oreo. Dr. Madden and her family are members of Hopewell Baptist Church in Wylam, AL. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In her spare time, Dr. Madden enjoys reading, running, vacationing with her family, and watching movies with her husband.
